Las fotos de estos caninos azules se volvieron virales a partir de que fueron publicadas por primera vez en el sitio ruso vk.com, según reveló The Moscow Times. Algunos de los perros son de color azul oscuro y otros están menos pigmentados. 

¿Por qué los perros están azules?

Se cree que los perros obtuvieron ese color después de estar expuestos a productos químicos en una fábrica abandonada cercana, según los primeros informes. La fábrica producía plexiglás y ácido cianhídrico, pero cerró hace seis años después de quebrar.

El ácido cianhídrico, una suspensión de cianuro de hidrógeno en agua, se aisló originalmente del pigmento azul de Prusia y toma su nombre del cian, la antigua palabra griega para azul.

El Centro para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades lo describe como venenoso y sus usos van desde tinte comercial hasta un elemento de un arma química.

El exgerente de quiebras de la planta química, Andrey Mislivets, dijo a la agencia de noticias estatal RIA Novosti que los edificios de la fábrica también almacenan sulfato de cobre, un químico conocido por su color azul brillante. “Los perros callejeros deambulan por el territorio, posiblemente encontraron los restos de algunos productos químicos viejos y rodaron en ellos, y posiblemente era sulfato de cobre”, detalló al medio.

Mislivets informó que hace varios años sucedió algo similar con animales que cambiaron de color después de entrar en contacto con tintes no naturales.

RIA Novosti también indicó que las agencias de derechos de los animales dijeron que la salud de los perros probablemente no esté en peligro.
